Zouk Tea Bar & Grill first opened in October 2006 in Bradford. Over the past four years we have achieved critical acclaim and many prestegious awards for our unique menu. Zouk is run by a dedicated family team and we pride ourselves on our passion for good food. Amjad Bashir, who has been working in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, sons Mudassar and Tayub and daughter Habiba are the heart and soul of the Zouk brand.
Mudassar and Tayub first conceived the idea of Zouk in early 2006 following a family holiday. Inspired by the variety of food and the stylish settings they had seen on their travels across Morroco and the Indian sub-continent, they approached their father with the idea of opening a new generation restaurant.
They designed Zouk to offer stylish surroundings with a relaxed and fun atmosphere, but most importantly they wanted to create a menu that would revolutionise the British curry industry. They felt it was important to create a new dining experience and offer an array of truely authentic Indian and Pakistani dishes. In addition to this they spent a lot of time designing a menu with healthier alternatives to meet the demands of today's health and nutrition conscious customers.
When Habiba joined the business in 2008 she took this food evolution a step further, launching the Zouk cooking school, where curry lovers can learn how to create their favourite Zouk receipes at home.
Zouk expanded by opening a spectacular 240 seat restaurant in Manchester city centre in February 2009. The Manchester restaurant has since become a huge success and in 2012 we'll be expanding further by opening a new Zouk Tea Bar & Grill in Liverpool city centre.
"Excellent as always. Good food and good service. The specials board is a great new addition." Jim & Rosalind Green
