'Business Oscars' honour Asian success stories

High flyers and inspirational people from the Asian community were honoured at a 'Business Oscars' awards ceremony in Yorkshire

Leeds United's conference and exhibition centre was the venue for the 9th annual ABDN Dinner & Business Awards.

The event was designed to build bridges between local businesses and the community.

One of the highlights of the evening was the 'Business Oscars', recognising successes from the region.

Local winners included Bradford businesses Zouk (New Business of the Year) and Bombay Stores (Business of the Year).

Special guest and keynote speaker Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for International Development, addressed the distinguished audience about the need to help companies develop.

The event also helped to raise funds for Leeds Lord Mayor councellor Mohammed Iqbal's charity appeal.

Also at the event were guests from Bollywood's Film Academy IIFA, who gave an update on the upcoming 'Bollywood Oscars' to be held in Yorkshire.
