Currylovers review Zouk

Eleven (including 2 new members and a lady!) intrepid members of currylovers.org visited Zouk tea bar and grill in Bradford on 17 September 2008.

This is a bright vibrant and modern restaurant that has been open 18 months and has won many plaudits including Yorkshire Posts Best Restaurant Out Of Leeds for 2 years running. Was it good enough for currylovers.org?

The welcome was extremely warm and we were quickly shown to our table. The first surprise was how extensive the menu was.

There is a good choice of starters and mains which included unusual dishes such as tandoori quail, sheep's brain and trotters and large Arabian steaks.

There was an extensive vegetarian choice and 7 kinds of fish and 2 lobster dishes.

The popudums and pickle tray were very good particular the coriander pickle.

The starters were all very good in particular the Masala Fish, Tandoori quail, chicken livers and Gola Kebabs (mince and paneer cheese)

There was a small delay for the mains to arrive but it was well worth the wait.

The Handi dishes were served in handmade clay pots and were very tasty. Other dishes that were note worthy included the Zouk special karahi, the Chicken Makhami and the Lamb Nihari which provided diners the opportunity of adding additional spices to taste.

All the different rices tasted were very good as were the naan's and the Kucha (a sesame seed form of naan)

At £18 each including drinks the prices were very reasonable and the service excellent.
