Early Award for Amjad
Local restauranteur Amjad Bashir is branching out with spectacular success across Bradford
Mr Bashir last year extended his business operations after running the Kebabeesh restaurant in Greengates since 1986. Leeds Road in Thornbury has now seen its eating outlets increased following the opening last autumn of Zouk, and already the unusually-named eatery is ahead of its targets.
The restaurant, which received 'Best Beyond Leeds' award from the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper recently, started off on a relatively low-key basis, as a four-seater, but has now acquired adjacent premises to expand and develop into something grander.
Mr Bashir's success with Kebabeesh stands him in good stead to repeat his success in Thornbury.
More recently, Zouk won the Business of the Year award at the Asian Business Development Network event at Leeds in March.

We all know it's an important time to be investing in the city, and the Leeds Road corridor is a key route between Leeds and Bradford. Many people stop off here on shopping trips, or after work. The area is an increasingly popular one in which to develop and invest. Zouk is already doing well: we've brought in three top quality chefs and the feedback we are getting is excellent.
