Zouk, from small acorns
Zouk's fantastic success story started only 2 years ago when they open in Bradford. Within a year they had expanded the restaurant and increased the number of covers from 55 to 110.
The next phase of development for the Bradford restaurant is to convert the dilapidated building next door, which would expand the restaurants dining, kitchen, bar and waiting areas.
Zouk also intend to build a food academy, which would train young chefs to a high standard, addressing the shortage of good Indian chefs in this country and the difficulty of brings chefs to England from abroad. These young people would gain first class accreditation to hopefully help them obtain employment throughout the U.K, if not abroad. There are also ambitious plans to create hospitability and banqueting facilities on site.
Mr Bashir also has plans to open a branch in the new Broadway retail mall in Bradford city centre.
After their huge success with Zouk tea bar and grill in Bradford, Mr Bashir and his sons prepare to take on Manchester.
With a £1 million investment Zouk are planning to open this November in Manchester city centre on Oxford Road, near the BBC studios. The 4.5 thousand square ft restaurant will accommodate up to 200 covers with mezzanine and alfresco dinning. The Manchester branch will boast an extended menu with dishes such as beggers chicken
, chicken coated in clay to keep the meat moist, and full legs of lamb, turkey and duck roasted on embers and served on skewers, this is a traditional dish from Baluchistan known as Sajee.
Not content with opening in Manchester Zouk also plan to take the concept of spicy street food to Italy.
Tayab and Mudassa, plan to visit Milan for three days on the 14th October with the International Business Network Group. They will be looking at the possibility of setting up a franchising opportunity and meeting with would be business partners in the city of Café culture, the home of eating out and fashion.
The secret of Zouk's success lies in the open style kitchen serving authentic Indian cuisine with a contemporary twist. An imaginative and entrepreneurial business Zouk's vision is one of health-consciousness, authenticity and style. All the food is freshly prepared by some of the very finest and most experienced chefs in an open kitchen and the menu boasts a wide range of healthy and contemporary dishes with a separate seafood menu and desserts prepared by the in house French pastry chef.

Zouk differentiate themselves from their competitors by opening throughout the day - seven days a week, the restaurants are stylish and contemporary in a social setting. At the restaurant in Bradford, which has been professionally designed to create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere, the clientele are greeted by friendly staff and entertained by live, open plan kitchen cooking. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed and lively global music is played including English, Arabian and Indian.
Mr Bashir said: I believe the formula we have here is a basis for success in other parts of the country, although it will be essential to maintain quality standards and our reputation for serving only freshly prepared ingredients. There is no frozen food at Zouk.
Since opening two years ago Zouk have won a string of awards including:
